THE BIRTHCHART OR RASHI
In India, there are two different horoscope formats are used; the North Indian style and the South Indian style. The Systems Approach uses the North Indian Style wherein the signs are indicated by numbers only. This takes some practice to memorize so we will use both the sign and the numbers for the student to grasp the technique more easily.

In Vedic Astrology, the natural horoscope always begins with Aries which is sign number one, followed in sequence by Taurus which is sign number two and then Gemini as number three and so forth until we come to the twelfth house and the twelfth sign which is Pisces. Each of the twelve signs are governed by a planet and this is known as rulership as each planet rules two signs with the exception of the Sun and the Moon, who only rule one sign.

In order to comprehend the birtchart, one must have a good knowledge of the planets and their indications. One must develop a feel for them, as well as memorizing their significations. We will give an outline on the planets, beginning with the key significance of each planet.
