Ketu is the dragon's tail or bottom half of Rahu and is known as the planet that represents the moon's southern axis or southern point. Ketu signifies our karmic past and brings about obstacles that occur in our life, forcing us to to make changes in our lives, and not become complacent. Therefore, Ketu causes major obstacles in our lives as we often cling to our habits and attachments.

Ketu is always putting the stick through our bicycle wheel spokes when it transits or sits near other planets in our chart. Each person's karma is different, therefore Ketu gives us all certain lessons in life which often come in the form of pain and difficulties . Some people have ordeals that are more complex and painful than others, which Ketu may be responsible for. These difficulties that occur have usually been with us in past lives. Ketu brings about these patterns and habits that are disturbing yet necessary in order that we break the chains of the past and begin to evolve our consciousness in the present form. Ketu can be seen as a spiritual planet after we pass through the hardships it has brought. Ketu then brings one into spirituality pursuits and mystic sciences. Ketu brings the interest in the occult, mystical beliefs and religions and in any other direction that can lead the person into finding the higher self or God Consciousness.

Because of Ketu's karmic patterns of the past , a person gains the realization that there must be more to life then seen in this relative material world. Ketu ultimately is placed in our chart for this very reason as it is meant to detach us from our karmic past and habits which no longer work for us or are valid. Since Ketu carries those deeply ingrained habits that often we are not consciously aware of, they become our destructive habits in this life. It is then when we unconsciously cling to these habits, as we often do, that is when Ketu comes about to ensure our karmic growth and brings about such complication and pain.

Rahu has the power to overcome the Moon, while Ketu has the power to overcome the Sun, so the nodes understandably have a great power in one's chart as they can absolutely destroy the power of one's sensitivity and emotional fortitude of the moon and of one's own confident inner self, which is the sun. Ketu signifies self-doubt, lack of self confidence and self worth. It ultimately stands for one's own liberation and gives a person strong power of concentration, perception and independence in order to pursue spiritual depths.

Indications of Ketu: One's past or karmic past, our habits, obstacles and difficulties in one's path, spirituality, psychic abilities, misfortunes, independence and detachments, low blood pressure, defective speech.
Body Parts of Ketu and Indications: None.
Occupations of Ketu: Mystics, saints, priest and inventors.
